Gov. DeSantis gives the green light
Floridians got a glimmer of hope and a change of pace last week. Despite 1400 new cases on Friday, Gov. Ron DeSantis gave the green light for some local authorities to open the beaches on a local level. Jacksonville, Florida, was the first to take advantage of the deregulation.
The beaches were open for everything except lounging and sunbathing. Beachgoers must continue walking, running, playing, swimming, surfing while maintaining a social distance, and are not permitted to rest idly on the beach, according to the New York Post.
“ This can be the beginning of the pathway back to normal life.”
“We all live on it, so it has been torture looking at it and not being able to be out here,” one beachgoer told CNN.
“This can be the beginning of the pathway back to normal life,” Mayor Lenny Curry reportedly said.
