Awesome, Dan! We've also got some protest signs on our Event Calendar page. Scroll down toward the bottom and you'll see them. https://www.openthestates.com/event-calendar
This is about FreeTheStates art, but not yard art. It's about mask art...I do not own a mask, but had to wear a bandana yesterday to enter a store. I wish I had a mask w the Open The States logo on it. That would be sweet! Has anyone made one?
Where are you located, Liberty? In my State, PA, you are exempt from having to wear a mask if you have a medical issue that prevents it, and you do not have to prove a medical issue. I have been in several stores since the order was issued and have not been questioned or even spoken to once about not having a mask on. I believe that store owners and managers have been told not to question in because to ask someone to answer that question, which needs no proof, is asking them to reveal private medical information that is protected under Federal Law. In addition, store owners really do not want the reputation of calling the police on their patrons over something stupid like wearing a mask. Something like that would result in a loss of customers and sometime even some broken windows and a firebombing if they do it to the wrong person. Under those circumstances it is better to just let the person get their shopping done and get out. Another issue is that if they refuse to serve someone, as an essential business, then they are defeating their essential mandate, and if that person is say, a diabetic, and goes into diabetic shock because they did not get needed food on time, then that store that refused to serve the person can be held liable.
@CAAPSorg I'm north of Dallas and I go to most places freely without a mask. I distance as much as possible, do not cough, do not sneeze, and try to touch only what I plan to buy, other than the occasional freezer door handle. I pay attention to see if others are coughing or sneezing (I've not seen others coughing or sneezing.) I try to go in with clean hands, try to not touch my face at all, and use hand sanitizer after I leave. So I'm watching out for myself and for others as well. I've not been sick, but if I were sick I would not go out in public. So I am well but had to go into Dallas County to buy something, and Dallas County has a requirement that masks or some sort of face covering must be worn in order to enter the building. Fortuntately I had a bandana in the car, so I could go in. If I had a 'Free the States' bandana I would wear it out in public all the time. :)
@liberty4all Most people out there are taking precautions, contrary to what the news would have everyone believe. The news is trying to substantiate the governors orders by saying that people don't care and are running reckless. I finally came across the first person to tell me I couldn't shop if I wasn't wearing a mask yesterday, at a Dollar store. I calmly told her that I most certainly could and that I had the order in the car that says specifically if I can't wear a mask then I am exempt if she wanted to see it, and she declined. Then I asked her, 'do you still want me to leave? If you do, I will, but I will also take your name because you are actually violating the order by not allowing me to shop." She said, 'no, you don't have to leave. I wasn't aware you had a medical issue.' To which I replied most store personnel don't ask, and just assume that if I am not wearing a mask it is for a reason, because to ask me also asks me to divulge medical information that I do not have to prove but is also confidential to me and not for public knowledge.' She did not apologize, but the point hit home because 10 minutes later when someone else walked in without a mask on, she never said a word. I am not sure if you have seen but U.S Attorney Bar just ordered is Attorneys to take action against any Covid restrictions that violate Civil and Constitutional Rights. He said specifically, "[the] Constitution is not suspended in times of crisis." By the way, I am coming out to the Dallas area on another business issue in a couple of weeks. Texas is a great place with great people!
@liberty4all we're working on getting some masks right now. I'll put up a post when we've got some available to order!
If all of the peon are required to wear a mask this is what we should wear as a silent protest. You can buy 100 of these masks on ebay for $10.00. Use the search term "Honeycomb Beard Net"
Ok, this made me laugh.
Unless there is a specification reference in the mandate as to specification of the fabric used to make the mask this should sufficient. This is what I plan to do if I am required to wear a mask.
