New York’s unemployment website “collapsed” following a surge in claims after the state shuttered nonessential businesses to curb the coronavirus pandemic, Gov. Andrew Cuomo said.
The state now has 1,000 people working online and through its phone system to process the high volume of unemployment claims, Cuomo said.
We have to get people back to work soon. If things keep going the way they are, unemployment is going to hurt more people than the virus. If citizens can handle food shopping, maintaining social distancing, why then can't other businesses open up and do the same? Enough already!
